
Chris Smyth
Prior to joining England & Co in June 2006, Chris was employed by a registered charity for over 7 years in the role of chief executive. He has considerable experience of accessing Government/European funding resources, as well as practical knowledge of grant-making trusts and the Charity Commission
Qualified in 1991 as a solicitor.
Chris is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and offers practical, specialized advice to employer clients in the fields of Commercial Industrial Manufacturing/Engineering and the Not-for-Profit sector, especially in the areas of leisure, sport and culture
Chris also deals with:-

- Employment - contracts, managing dismissals and representation at Tribunals
- Setting up//managing Companies | Charities | Social Enterprises | Trusts
- Disputes involving wills/estates/powers of attorney/Court of Protection

Prior to joining England & Co in 2006, Chris was a partner in a commercial firm in South East England and then Chief Executive of a registered charity. He has considerable practical knowledge of grant-making trusts, and the requirements of both Companies House and the Charity Commission.
He is legal adviser and Company Secretary to a number of trusts and charities and is Board Member (Employer’s Representative) for Investors in People (IIP) in the East of England with a particular interest in IIP’s Health & Wellbeing Programme. He is England & Co’s nominated LEXCEL quality assurance representative.
He has experience of working as a lawyer in both Finland and India, as well as within the law and securities section of a major UK bank.
