Peter qualified as a solicitor in 1976, and has been with the firm since 1983. From 1984 , he was in partnership with Michael Stubbs, whose father had been one of the first partners in the firm. From 1996 to September 2016 Peter was the firm's sole Principal before becoing a partner again and oversaw the expansion of the firm from one office in Great Yarmouth to three offices in 1999 upon acquiring the firm of Derrick Garwood & Co based in Gorleston and Martham. This expansion helped the firm to provide a wide range of legal services throughout the Borough of Great Yarmouth and beyond.

During his time as a solicitor, Peter has seen great changes in the way legal services are delivered to clients by similar traditional "High Street" practices. When he first qualified, solicitors generally undertook a wide range of work, rather than specialise. Therefore, his early career included criminal, personal injury, housing, civil litigation and family legal work. Over the years, he developed into a Family Lawyer before specialising in child care matters. As a result, he is now one of the foremost solicitors in Norfolk dealing with child care court proceedings. As a member of the Law Society Children Law Panel, he represents both children and parents in such proceedings.

Outside of his legal work, Peter's main interest is amateur dramatics and has had lead roles in a number of productions of the Quaysiders and Seagull Theatre Clubs in Lowestoft. He is a great lover of cricket, though unfortunately is now only a spectator, which is also the case with other sports such as football, golf and tennis. In the past, he has been involved in public duties as a Norfolk County Councillor, where he was also the Chairman of the Police Committee, and he has also been governor of a number of schools.

Peter became a solicitor because he wished to help people who had problems. Even after over 35 years as solicitor that remains his wish in the specialised area of law in which he is now involved.
